Message from the District Governor

JOHN VANDERHEYDEN

As the current Governor of the Illinois-Eastern Iowa District of Kiwanis, I would like to welcome you to the 2011 – 2012 Kiwanis Year.

First Lady, Roxanne, and my theme for the year is Raise Them Up. Inspired by the song “You Raise Me Up” performed by Josh Groban, the message is one of lifting people who are in need; whether physical, spiritual or financial. We call on every Kiwanian to join us in looking around, identifying someone who has fallen; to reach down and “Raise Them Up”.

Yours in Kiwanis,
John E Vanderheyden
2011 – 2012 Governor

Raise Them Up!

The I-I District consists of all K-Family clubs located in the State of Illinois as well as those in the the following counties of Iowa:  Allamakee, Clayton, Delaware, Dubuque, Jones, Jackson, Cedar, Clinton, Muscatine, Scott, Louisa, Henry, Des Moines & Lee.

The members of the I-I District are very proud of our midwestern heritage and our long standing Kiwanis service in our communities.  Having chartered on September 27, 1918, the I-I District K-Family has provided service to children for over 91 years.

What if you could save a baby's life?

With The Eliminate Project, you can. Maternal and neonatal tetanus (MNT) kills one baby every nine minutes. But three doses of a 60-cent vaccine can protect mothers and babies. Kiwanis and UNICEF have joined forces to bring this vaccine to 38 countries, eliminating MNT from the face of the Earth. What can you do right now? Learn about MNT and advocate for the cause. Participate in our fundraisers. Over the next few years, the work we do will change the world. Find out more at www.TheEliminateProject.org.
